My Story

Building a Legacy of Supporting Men’s Empowerment

It all began before the 2020 pandemic. I started feeling more sluggish, even though work was as stressful as usual. I was “working out” and “eating right” to stay fit, but I was largely unaware of mental wellness and my overall well-being. I thought everything was fine. Then the lockdowns hit, and while having more time to myself seemed like a blessing at first, it quickly turned into a challenge. The slowdown forced me to confront my thoughts more deeply, leading to a surge of negativity. My sleep worsened—I was never a great sleeper, but I had relied on weekend drinking to pass out and considered that enough rest.
Next came the mood swings. I found myself getting agitated by things that didn’t usually bother me, and I’d often realize, too late, that I had acted out in hurtful ways. My physical health was deteriorating as well: my back and neck were tight, and an old shoulder injury flared up again, exacerbating my sleep issues. It was a vicious cycle. My negative thoughts intensified, and there were mornings when I woke up feeling that everything was bleak, which colored the rest of my day. I wondered if I was experiencing a mid-life crisis or something similar. What could I do?
Fast forward to today, and I’ve navigated many learning curves and emerged from that difficult period. The journey has been challenging but incredibly rewarding. I’ve learned a lot and still have a way to go. I sought help from various sources: my supportive friend and trainer introduced me to essential health pillars; my fantastic life and mental health coach offered invaluable guidance; and my compassionate wife, deeply involved in wellness, provided constant support.
Through it all, I’ve come to understand that well-being is an interconnected culmination of various aspects of life. Mental health and wellness are crucial for overcoming tough times. My experiences, including childhood influences and personal challenges, have shaped me, and practices like journaling and meditation have opened my eyes to new perspectives. I’ve discovered limiting beliefs and am getting to know myself better—something I previously hadn’t done. I now see that personal growth is boundless.
As my journey continues, I realize that many men face similar struggles. I want to share my insights and experiences through blogging and newsletters to help others navigate tough times and enhance their mental health and wellness. By focusing on habits related to health, nutrition, mindfulness, journaling, and other methods, I hope to support others in thriving and growing. I also envision a community where those who have advanced further in their journeys can share their wisdom.
