The Power of Family (Chosen or Given)

family, social distancing, quarantine bubble, pandemic, concept, family, family, family, family, family

Family isn’t just who raised you.
It’s who holds you.

Sometimes loud.
Sometimes quietly.
Sometimes from miles away—still feeling like home.

Family is where we first learn love—
and sometimes, where we first feel hurt.
It’s where patterns start.
And where healing can begin.

But whether your family is blood, chosen, or somewhere in between—
it shapes you.

The way you speak.
The way you show up.
The way you say goodbye, or struggle to.

I used to think “family” had to look a certain way.
But I’ve come to learn:

Family is anyone who makes you feel safe in your own skin.
The people who remind you who you are when you forget.
The ones who show up without needing a reason.
The ones you don’t have to perform for.

They’re not perfect.
You’re not either.
But there’s power in staying. In growing. In loving anyway.

Family teaches us:

  • How to forgive
  • How to fight fair
  • How to soften
  • How to stay close, even when things are hard

And that… is its real strength.

Family isn’t flawless.
But when it’s rooted in love, it holds more than history—
it holds you.

That’s the Cushy way.
